Among the many resorts offering scuba diving to some interesting sites on the island of Cyprus is considered the pearl. Cyprus is well known for its underwater caves, and for the famous wrecks that divers have the opportunity to explore.
There is no doubt that the Zenobia wreck is the most famous diving attraction of our Island. MS Zenobia was a Swedish built Challenger-class RO-RO ferry launched in 1979 that capsized and sank close to Larnaca, Cyprus in June 1980 on her maiden voyage. She now rests on her port side in approximately 42 metres (138 ft) of water and was named as one of The Times top ten wreck diving sites in the world in 2003.As a dive site, the a wide range of challenges to scuba divers, from a fairly simple dive to 16 metres (52 ft) depth along the starboard side of the ship (suitable for newly qualified divers); moving up to a more advanced dive inside the upper car deck and accommodation block, right up to extremely adventurous dives within the lower car deck or the engine room (which are only suitable for very experienced divers).
Cyprus is famous for its underwater caves, but Paphos with its stony seabed is the underwater jewel of the island. The "Amphitheatre" with its terraces is only accessible to divers, It's not an optical illusion, underwater currents over thousands of years eroded the cave roof, finally bringing it down uncovering three ring shaped walls, 10-12 meters high. It was named like this because it looks like an ancient Greek amphitheater.Dive only 12 meters below the surface and the feature and its dwellers, such as shells and shoals of quick moving fish in all the colours of rainbow, will appear in front of you.
